What A Laugh: Introduction

The man, who now lay slumped over himself on the edge of the street, was well and truly dead. Fluttering in the gentle breeze was a newspaper article, creased from having been shoved into pockets and lightly stained. The headline read:

"Man Claims Information on Gotham's Most Wanted Criminal Master-mind."

A little way off, a figure could be seen swaggering towards a nearby dumpster. He reached into the deep pockets of his plum coloured trenchcoat jacket and pulled out a and envelope, a pen, part of a newspaper clipping and a small card.

With the pen leant on the side of the dumpster, he drew a clown-like smile across the portrait picture of the dead man in the clipping, sealed it in the envelope and walked slowly back over to the body.

Casually, he slipped the envelope into the blazer pocket of the dead man and threw the card down on the on the ground beside.

This done, the figure stepped off the kerb, crossed the street...and disappeared.
